Anni Schnell of the Kalamazoo College women's swimming and diving team was named the SAAC Women's Hornet of the Week on Tuesday (Feb. 6).
Kalamazoo hosted Alma in the regular season finale on Feb. 3 and won 182-99 after taking first in 11 of the 16 events.
Schnell was the leading point-getter for the Hornets after winning the 100 Fly (1:01.74), 200 Fly (2:22.11), and 200 Back (2:20.22) while also being a part of the 200 Medley Relay team that took first (1:56.48). These were the only events she competed in on the day. So far this season, Schnell has the fastest times on the team in the 200 Free (2:02.78), 50 Back (:28.61), 100 Back (1:01.93), 200 Back (2:20.22), and 100 Fly (:59.67). The sophomore has also swam in the 50 Free, 100 Free, 50 Fly, and 200 Fly in her career at Kalamazoo.
Kalamazoo will next compete at the MIAA Championships, which Hope will host on Feb. 21-24.
