Anni Schnell of the Kalamazoo College women's swimming and diving team was named the SAAC Women's Hornet of the Week on Tuesday (Feb. 27).
The Hornets finished the season at the MIAA Championships on Mar. 21-24 at Hope. Kalamazoo finished fourth with 283 points behind Calvin, Hope, and Albion.
Schnell helped Kalamazoo to a fourth-place finish after placing within the top eight in three of her races. She finished fifth in the 100 Fly (58.86), sixth in the 100 Back (1:00.72), and eighth in the 200 Fly (2:22.29). Her time in the 100 Back was the fastest time since coming to Kalamazoo. Schnell also swam four relays at the MIAA Championships as the 200 Free, 400 Free, 800 Free, and 400 Medley Relay teams all finished seventh.
Kalamazoo had 31 individuals place well enough in the prelims to move on to the finals and 11 top-eight finishes at the conference meet.
