Women's Swimming & Diving Collects Four Honorees on CSC Academic All-District Team

The Kalamazoo College women's swimming and diving team had four student-athletes selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, as announced on Tuesday (Apr. 2). Elizabeth Muenzenmaier, Mary Muenzenmaier, Anni Schnell, and Ava Williams were the representatives for the Hornets.

To be selected for the award, the student-athlete must be a starter or an important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, have played at least 90% or start in 66% of their team's competitions, and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.

In the 2023-24 season, E. Muenzenmaier collected three second-place and third-place finishes in the eight regular-season competitions. She also picked up an eighth-place finish at the MIAA Championships in the 200 Free Relay. E. Muenzenmaier primarily swims in the breaststroke and individual medley races and currently has personal bests in the 50 Free (28.04), 100 Free (1:02.51), 200 Free (2:15.07), 50 Breast (33.37), 100 Breast (1:12.42), 200 Breast (2:36.95), 50 Fly (31.94), 100 Fly (1:10.46), 200 IM (2:21.84), and 400 IM (5:17.30) at Kalamazoo. E. Muenzenmaier is majoring in history with a 3.78 cumulative GPA. This is her first time appearing on the all-district team, and she is a MIAA Academic Honor Roll member. 

M. Muenzenmaier collected four first-place, four second-place, and two third-place finishes in the eight regular-season competitions during 2023-24. At the MIAA Championships, she finished seventh twice in the 200 and 400 Medley Relays. M. Muenzenmaier primarily swims in the breaststroke and individual medley races and currently has personal bests in the 50 Free (28.34), 100 Free (1:02.45), 50 Breast (32.38), 100 Breast (1:09.83), 200 Breast (2:33.30), 50 Fly (30.58), 100 Fly (1:07.21), and 200 IM (2:21.93) at Kalamazoo. M. Muenzenmaier is majoring in psychology with a 3.92 cumulative GPA. This is her first time appearing on the all-district team and she is an MIAA Academic Honor Roll member. 

In the 2023-24 season, Schnell collected six first-place, four second-place, and one third-place finishes in the eight regular-season competitions. She was successful at the MIAA Championships, finishing third in the 400 Free Relay, fifth in the 100 Fly, sixth in the 100 Back, seventh in the 200 Free Relay, seventh in the 800 Free Relay, seventh in the 400 Medley Relay, and eighth in the 200 Fly. Schnell primarily swims in the butterfly races and currently has personal bests in the 50 Free (24.85), 100 Free (55.45), 200 Free (2:02.61), 50 Back (28.61), 100 Back (1:00.72), 200 Back (2:20.22), 50 Fly (26.88), 100 Fly (58.06), 200 Fly (2:15.99) at Kalamazoo. Schnell is majoring in biochemistry with a 3.71 cumulative GPA. This is her first time appearing on the all-district team, and she is a MIAA Academic Honor Roll member. 

Williams collected two first-place, five second-place, and one third-place finishes in the eight regular-season competitions during 2023-24. She also picked up seventh-place finishes in the 400 and 800 Free Relays at the MIAA Championships while also finishing eighth in the 200 Free Relay. Williams primarily swims in the freestyle races and currently has personal bests in the 50 Free (25.97), 100 Free (56.73), 200 Free (2:04.12), 500 Free (5:29.84), 1000 Free (11:34.03), 1650 Free (19:11.71) at Kalamazoo. Williams is double majoring in business and political science with a 3.56 cumulative GPA. This is her first time appearing on the all-district team, and she is a two-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll member. 

Now that the four student-athletes have made the all-district team, they will move on to the CSC Academic All-American ballot, which will be announced in April.
