The Kalamazoo College women's tennis team hosted the first day of the MIAA Fall Flighted Tournament on Friday.
In the A Flight, Sarah Woods defeated Lauren Schlagenhauf (Calvin) 6-1, 6-0. Woods also defeated (2) Jessica Huhnke (Trine) 6-2, 6-2 in the quarterfinals.
Jenna Riehl lost 6-4, 6-4 to Erin Clutter of Alma and 6-2, 4-6, 10-3 to Arielle Williams (Adrian) in consolations. Olivia Bouchard lost 6-3, 7-5 to (4) Megan Visser of Calvin and 6-2, 2-6, 10-6 to Chrissy Uphaus (Trine) in consolations.
In the B Flight, Cheryl Zhang defeated Susan Breinling (Trine) 6-4, 7-5 before losing 1-6, 7-6(2), 10-4 in the quarterfinals to Heather Vogt (Albion).
Carrie Foura defeated Lauren Schlueter (Trine) 6-2, 7-5 and Shannon Elliott (Saint Mary's) 5-7, 6-2, 10-7. Foura lost in the quarterfinals to Jordan Ipema (Calvin) 5-7, 6-3, 10-4.
In the C Flight, Kristen Ellefson defeated Sarah Monte (Saint Mary's) 6-4, 6-1 before falling to Brittany Miller (Alma) 7-5, 6-7(10), 12-10.
Elizabeth Tyburski defeated Nicki Malekdeli (Alma) 6-1, 6-1 before falling 6-3, 6-4 to Kolleen Overmyer (Calvin).
Jennifer Bageris lost 6-0, 6-0 to Kassie VanAlst of Alma and 6-1, 6-2 to Alexis Mack (Trine) in consolations.
In A Doubles, Katie Clark and Sarah Woods defeated Huhnke/Uphaus (Trine) 8-5 in the quarterfinals.
Olivia Bouchard and Jenna Riehl lost 8-3 to Elliott/Golden (Saint Mary's) before defeating Schlueter/Willmann (Trine) 8-3 in consolations.
In B Doubles, Ania Latala and Cheryl Zhang won 8-6 in the quarterfinals.
Kristen Ellefson and Carrie Foura won 8-5 over Henning/Moreau (Alma) before falling 8-2 to Kabodian/Vogt of Albion.
Jennifer Bageris and Elizabeth Tyburski lost 8-2 to Hanson/Khem of Adrian.
