Women's Tennis defeats Saint Mary's, 7-2

KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo College women's tennis team defeated Saint Mary's College 7-2 in the regular season finale at Stowe Stadium on Saturday. The win improved Kalamazoo's record to 12-7 overall and secured a second place finish in the MIAA with a 7-1 league record.

Kalamazoo led 2-1 after wins at No. 1 and 3 doubles. The Hornets then won five of the six singles matches to complete the win.

Sarah Woods and Olivia Bouchard won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles while Kelsey Moran and Cheryl Zhang won 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.

Woods improved her singles record to 17-1 overall while remaining undefeated in dual match play against Division III opponents with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles.

Jenna Riehl won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.

Kelsey Moran (No. 3) and Cheryl Zhange (No. 6) won in straight sets while Anna Latala won 6-7(5), 6-4, 10-6 at No. 4 singles.

Kalamazoo is scheduled to host the No. 3 seed (Albion) in the MIAA Tournament on Thursday, May 2.
