KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's tennis team won its season opener 9-0 over Baldwin Wallace University Saturday morning inside the Markin Center.
Kalamazoo won all three doubles matches before winning all six singles matches in straight sets.
Lisa Johnston and Alex Oswalt were first off the courts in doubles with an 8-2 win, followed by Maddy Winarski and Helen Pelak at No. 3 and Maria Franco and Laura Hanselman at No. 1.
Franco (1) and Winarksi (3) each won 6-0, 6-0 in singles. They were followed by Pelak (4), Hanselman (2), Oswalt (5) and Bella Russo (6).
Kalamazoo returns to action next Friday, Feb. 9 with a match against John Carroll University in Medina Ohio. The Hornets then play at Kenyon on Saturday, Feb. 10.
