KALAMAZOO, Mich. – On the heels of a dominate season opening win by the Kalamazoo College women's tennis team, senior Maria Franco has been named MIAA Player of the Week.
A senior captain from Quito, Ecuador, Franco paired with Laura Hanselman to win 8-1 at one doubles in the Hornets' match against Baldwin Wallace on Saturday. Franco then made short work of the competition at one singles with 6-0, 6-0 win to help K secure the 9-0 victory as a team.
Franco has been an All-MIAA performer in each of her seasons at K, garnering two Second Team nods and a First Team honor last season. She is being honored as MIAA Player of the Week for the second time in her career.
K will travel to Medina, Ohio on Friday, Feb. 9th to take on John Carroll at 7:00 p.m.
