KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's tennis team defeated Lake Forest College 6-3 inside the Markin Center Saturday afternoon.
Lake Forest won two of the three doubles matches before Kalamazoo won five of the six singles matches to claim the win.
Maddy Winarski and Ella Knight teamed up for an 8-4 win at three doubles.
Sophie Zhuang (6-1, 6-1) and Ella Knight (6-3, 6-4) won in straight sets at three and four singles, respectively, to give the Hornets a 3-2 lead.
Laura Hanselman followed with a 6-3, 0-6, 6-4 win at one singles before Maddy Winarski clinched the win for the Hornets with a 7-6(3), 6-2 win at two singles.
Bella Russo closed out the match with a 6-4, 6-2 win at six singles.
Kalamazoo is back in action Sunday morning with a 10 a.m. match against Illinois Tech inside the Markin Center.
