KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Caroline Norton of the Kalamazoo College women's tennis team was named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week on Monday afternoon, the league announced.
Norton, a junior from Ann Arbor, Mich. (Skyline HS) had several solid performances in Kalamazoo's two wins this past week. In a 9-0 sweep of Albion, she won in straight sets at No. 1 singles, and teamed up with Renee Torres at No. 2 doubles to defeat their opponents 8-1.
On Saturday in the team's 7-2 victory over Saint Mary's, Norton picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles and again won with Torres at No. 2 doubles.
Norton moves to 4-4 overall, 3-1 in conference play at No. 1 singles on the season. She holds a 6-1, 4-0 MIAA record in No. 2 doubles play with Torres.
Kalamazoo is scheduled to be back in action Wednesday, April 21 at Albion.
