Meghan Killmaster of the Kalamazoo College women's tennis team was selected as the MIAA Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Monday (Mar. 13). This is the first time in her career that the senior has collected player of the week honors.
The women's tennis team earned its first MIAA win in the conference opener this past Saturday (Mar. 11) against Alma. The Hornets completed the clean 9-0 sweep over the Scots.
Killmaster first partnered with Maddie Hurley to take the #2 doubles match 8-2. Then in the #3 singles match, Killmaster did not drop a single point on the way to a 6-0, 6-0 win. This was Killmaster's second doubles win and first singles win of the season.
In her career, Killmaster is 16-19 (7-2 MIAA) in singles matches and 29-22 (16-0 MIAA) in doubles matches. The senior had primarily played #5/6 singles and #2/3 doubles throughout her career but has stepped into the #3 singles role this season. Killmaster is also a three-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll member.
Kalamazoo will next travel to Albion on Wednesday (Mar. 15), beginning at 4 p.m.
