Maddie Hurley of the Kalamazoo College women's tennis team was selected as the MIAA Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Monday (Apr. 24). This is the first time in her career that the junior has collected player of the week honors.

The Hornets finished the regular season with an MIAA match at Trine. Kalamazoo completed the conference season undefeated to be MIAA Champions by defeating the Thunder 9-0.

Hurley and her doubles partner Meghan Killmaster battled to win the #2 doubles match 8-7 (7-4). Then, she defeated her #4 singles opponent in straight sets, 7-5, 6-1. Hurley had an 8-8 singles record this season, including 5-2 in the MIAA, mostly playing in the #4 spot. She also had an 8-6 (5-2 MIAA) record in doubles, going 7-6 with Killmaster in the #2 spot.

In her three seasons, Hurley is 24-21 (15-4 MIAA) in singles matches, playing in the fourth, fifth, and sixth spots. She is also 31-18 (19-3 MIAA) in doubles matches, competing in the second and third spots. Hurley is a two-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll member and ITA Scholar-Athlete.

Kalamazoo will now turn its attention to the MIAA Tournament by hosting fourth-seeded Calvin in the semifinal on Wednesday (Apr. 26) at 4 p.m. at Stowe Stadium.
