Juliana Pullen of the Kalamazoo College women's tennis team was selected as the MIAA Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Monday (Feb. 12). In the first weekend of spring competition, Pullen earned player of the week honors in her first season of collegiate tennis.

Kalamazoo began its season with two home matches against Wooster on Feb. 10 and Oberlin on Feb. 11. The Hornets won both matches to open the 2024 season, winning 6-3 against the Fighting Scots and Yeowomen.

Pullen stepped into a significant role in her first spring of collegiate tennis, playing in the #1 singles and #1 doubles matches against Wooster and Oberlin. Against the Fighting Scots, she won her singles match 6-3, 6-4 and then partnered up with Maddie Hurley to take the doubles match 8-7 (7-1). Pullen and Hurley went on to win the #1 doubles match against the Ywowomen 8-7 (7-5). In the fall, she started her collegiate tennis campaign by going 1-1 in singles matches and 2-1 with Hurley in doubles matches at the Hope Invitational. At the ITA Regionals, Pullen went 1-2 in singles matches and 1-2 with Hurley in doubles matches. She is 5-3 with Hurley in doubles matches and 3-2 in singles matches on the season.

The Hornets will continue their season with another home match against Augustana on Sunday (Feb. 18).
