Maddie Hurley of the Kalamazoo College women's tennis team was named the SAAC Women's Hornet of the Week on Tuesday (Feb. 20).
The Hornets continued their season with another match against Augustana on Feb. 18, and Kalamazoo moved to 3-0 with a 6-3 win over the Vikings.
Hurley played in the top matches for singles and doubles against Augustana. She won the #1 singles 6-1, 6-4 for her first singles win of the season, and then teamed up with Juliana Pullen to win the #1 doubles 8-6. Pullen and Hurley have started the spring season 3-0 in #1 doubles matches and are 6-3 on the season, including fall tournament matches. Hurley is 1-2 in the first three spring matches in singles, with two matches in the #1 spot and the other in the #2 spot. At the beginning of her senior season, Hurley is 26-27 (15-4 MIAA) in singles and 39-21 (19-3 MIAA) in doubles.
Kalamazoo will continue its season with another home match against Anderson on Saturday (Feb. 24).
