Volleyball loses final home game to Albion

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College volleyball team lost its final home game of the season 3-1 to Albion College on Friday.

Kalamazoo fell behind quickly 7-0 to start the contest before coming back to even the score at 9-9. The score was tied again at 21-21 before the Britons finished out the set 25-22.

Kalamazoo fell behind again in the second set 7-1 before trailing 14-2. The Hornets battled back but were defeated 25-11.

The Hornets gained some momentum in the third set which was very close throughout. The score was tied 20-20 before Kalamazoo took a 21-20 lead. After leading 24-21, Kalamazoo won the set 25-22.

Albion regained control in the fourth set leading 7-4 early before seeing the score tied at 11-11. Albion went up 16-12, then 19-16, before finally clinching the win at 25-18.

Kaela Van Til led Kalamazoo with 14 kills in 50 attempts while also recording 22 digs.

Senior Olivia Cares put up 11 kills with a .304 attack percentage in her final home game.

Sophie Spencer finished with nine kills and a .233 attack percentage.

Kaiya Herman-Hilker finished with 31 assists and 15 digs. Dana DeVito recorded 29 digs while Paige Johnson and Kennedy Boulton each had 11.

Kalamazoo closes out the 2015 season at Olivet College on Saturday at 11 a.m.
