Volleyball falls to Olivet in four sets

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College volleyball team lost in four sets to Olivet on Friday in the Anderson Athletic Center, 25-14, 25-23, 16-25, 25-22.

After losing the first set, Kalamazoo took a 17-10 lead in the second set only to see Olivet rally with eight straight points to take the lead. With the score even at 23-23, Olivet scored the final two points to win the set.

Kalamazoo led again in the third set, 19-12, before finishing with a 25-16 win.

The fourth set was tied 21-21 before Olivet finished it off at 25-22.

Paige Johnson led Kalamazoo with 10 kills, 14 assists, 11 digs and four service aces.

Shamari Browning added nine kills and six digs while Kaela Van Til had eight kills and 19 digs. Sidney Wall had six kills with two blocks.

Kaiya Herman-Hilker had a team-high 18 assists with six digs while Dana DeVito led the team with 31 digs. Kennedy Boulton also had double-digit digs with 11.

Kalamazoo returns to action Saturday at Albion. The Hornets face the Britons at 11 a.m. followed by a non-conference match against U of M Dearborn at 1 p.m.
