Volleyball defeats Trine at home

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College volleyball team defeated Trine in four sets (25-15, 23-25, 25-17, 25-20) at home on Wednesday.

After winning the first set easily Kalamazoo let a 17-11 lead slip away in the second set.

Kalamazoo jumped out to an early lead in set three and led 24-12 before Trine rolled off five straight points. Kalamazoo finally scored to take the set.

Trine scored eight of the first nine points in the fourth set before Kalamazoo finally evened the score at 16-16. After taking a 19-18 lead the Hornets never trailed again before clinching the match.

Kalamazoo hit .203 in the match while Trine was limited to .092.

Paige Johnson and Shelby Suseland each had 12 kills to lead the Hornets offensively while Kaela Van Til posted 11.

Van Til also recorded 14 digs and three blocks.

Kaiya Herman-Hilker had 41 assists and 10 digs while Dana DeVito led the team with 23 digs. 

Rachel Girard was in on six blocks while also posting five kills. Sidney Wall added eight kills.

Kalamazoo is off until next Tuesday, Oct. 18 when the Hornets travel to Saint Mary's.
