Volleyball Splits Saturday Matches at Ohio Wesleyan

DELAWARE, Ohio - The Kalamazoo College volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday at Ohio Wesleyan's Bishop Invitational.

Kalamazoo defeated the host Ohio Wesleyan 3-2 in the opener before falling 3-1 to Otterbein.

Kalamazoo vs. Ohio Wesleyan

Kalamazoo won the first two sets, 25-23, 25-19, before the Bishops won the next two 25-23, 25-16. The fifth set was tied 8-8 before the Hornets came away with the 15-13 win.

Hannah Kerns posted 15 kills while Ashley Rill had 11 kills with 11 digs.

Grace Kraft had 35 assists with 10 digs. Taylor Ferguson had 21 digs with eight assists. 

Kalamazoo vs. Otterbein

Otterbein won the first set 25-21 before Kalamazoo evened it up with a 25-22 win the second set. Otterbein won 25-22 and 25-22 in sets three and four, respectively, to win the match.

Madi Goodman led the Hornets with 15 kills and a .500 attack percentage. Lindsey Nedd added 11 kills.

Grace Kraft led the team with 36 assists while Taylor Ferguson had 19 digs. Ashley Rill added 13 digs while Maddie Wojcik had 11.

All-Tournament Team

Madi Goodman and Taylor Ferguson were selected to the All-Tournament Team at the end of the tournament.

After opening the season 9-3 away from home, Kalamazoo will play its first home match on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. against Manchester.
