Volleyball Falls at Home to Adrian

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College volleyball team lost at home to Adrian Wednesday night, 25-22, 25-12, 25-17.

Kalamazoo trailed by as many as four midway through the first set before cutting the deficit to one (21-20). Adrian scored four of the last six points to win the set 25-22.

Kalamazoo had an early lead in the second set before falling behind 6-5. Adrian led 11-9 before going on a 7-0 run to make it 18-9. After a Kalamazoo point, Adrian scored six of the last eight points to win the set 25-12.

Kalamazoo led by as many as three (10-7) early in the third. Kalamazoo still held a lead at 14-13 before Adrian pulled ahead at 15-14. After a 15-15 tie, Adrian scored 10 of the last 12 points to win the set (25-17) and the match.

Adrian hit .333 in the match, led by Amber Morris' 20 kills. Kalamazoo hit .099 in the match.

Ann Lawrence led the Hornets with eight kills. Halley Johnson finished with six, along with six digs. Hannah VanderLugt and Charlotte Ruiter each had four kills. Emma Stickley and Toni Koshmider each had three.

Jana Molby led the Hornets with 15 assists. Sara Reathaford added 10. 

Morgan Shearer had a team-high 11 digs.

Kalamazoo returns to action Friday with a non-conference match at Grace Christian scheduled for 6:30 p.m. The Hornets are back home Saturday with a non-conference match against Great Lakes Christian at 2 p.m.
