Paige Anderson of the Kalamazoo College women's cross country team was named the MIAA Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week on Monday (Sept. 11). This is the first time the junior has been recognized as the conference's runner of the week.
The Hornets traveled to Geneva, Ill., to participate in the Aurora Invite on Sept. 9. Kalamazoo came away with its first race win since 2005 when the team won the Manchester Invitational. The team scored 38 points, four points better than the second-place team.
Anderson and the race's top finisher paced the field and finished a minute and a half faster than the third-place finisher. She ran a 22:52 6k, which is 47 seconds off her fastest career time, which was in the MIAA Championships last season. Anderson returns from a season where she was named to the All-MIAA First Team and the NCAA DIII Great Lakes All-Region Team.
Kalamazoo will run again this Saturday (Sept. 16) at the Wheaton Gil Dodds Invite in Warrenville, Ill., at 11:45 a.m.
