Paige Anderson of the Kalamazoo College women's cross country team was named the SAAC Women's Hornet of the Week on Tuesday (Nov. 21).
Anderson was the lone representative for Kalamazoo cross county at the NCAA DIII Championships. She finished 90th overall out of 290 runners with a time of 22:25. Anderson was the third MIAA runner to cross the finish line, beating 12 runners from Hope and Calvin.
After a stellar sophomore season, Anderson took another step forward in her junior year. She finished with five top-10 finishes, including fourth-place finishes at the MIAA Championships and the NCAA DIII Great Lakes Regional. This was Anderson's second straight year to be named to the All-MIAA First Team and the All-Region Team. At the regional meet, she ran a personal best of 20:49, which set a new school record.
The Hornets finished fourth at the MIAA Championships for the third straight season, closing the gap on Trine from 70 points last season to 31 points this season. Kalamazoo also finished one spot better at the regional, moving from 13th to 12th.
