Football falls in MIAA opener at Albion

ALBION, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College football team lost 75-22 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play on Saturday.

Kalamazoo led 9-7 after eight minutes, but Albion scored 35 straight points to take a 42-9 lead into halftime.

Kalamazoo made it a 42-22 game early in the fourth quarter, but the Britons scored on an 89-yard run on their next play to put the game out of reach.

Albion put up 744 yards of total offense compared to 450 yards for Kalamazoo.

Aaron McGuire was 26-of-43 passing for 238 yards with three touchdowns for the Hornets. McGuire also rushed for 68 yards.

Alex Dietrich had nine catches for 116 yards. Cameron Shegos, Dan Grost and Jacob Lenning each had touchdown receptions.

Shon Powell led the running backs with 56 yards on 12 carries.

Connor Rzeznik led the Kalamazoo defense with 10 total tackles, including four for lost yardage with one sack. Sean Bauer was also credited with a sack.

Kalamazoo hosts Alma College for Homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 2 p.m.
