Hornets fall on the road to North Park

Josh Whitney playing basketball

The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team lost 61-47 on the road to North Park on Saturday night. The Hornets move to 3-2 this season with the loss.

The score wasn't indicative of how close the game was. The Hornets held a small lead for the latter part of the first half and went into halftime with a 31-29 lead. The Vikings were able to stay close and ultimately pull away from the Hornets with a barrage of three pointers. North park attempted an incredibly high 31 shots from downtown, and even though they weren't extremely accurate, they were able to sink nine of them.

The Hornets only trailed by five points with 3:31 left to go in the game. The Vikings ultimately ended up with the large victory margin due to having much more trips to the free-throw line and less turnovers than the Hornets.

Adam Peters continued his dominance this season with 17 points and nine rebounds on 44 percent shooting. Keith Garber was the team's second leading scorer with seven points. The Hornets really struggled shooting the three ball – only hitting 2 of their 13 attempts.

Kalamazoo will try to get back to its winning ways Wednesday Dec. 6 at Marygrove.
