KALAMAZOO, Mich. - In a game that's become a preseason tradition between two schools sharing the same city, the Kalamazoo College men's basketball team took on Western Michigan in a preseason exhibition Saturday afternoon. The Broncos defeated the visiting Hornets, 107-50.

Despite playing a Division I opponent, Kalamazoo freshman Demarco Dickerson served as one of the bright spots for the Hornets as he and the rest of the team put their hard work from the offseason to the test. Dickerson ended his day with 14 points along with seven rebounds, leading the team in both categories.

"Demarco was a huge spark for us tonight," Head Coach Eric Dougal said. "He did everything. Knocked down shots, got his teammates great looks and defended. He will be a big part of what we do this year."

Junior Adam Dykema also scored in double figures for the Hornets as he ended the afternoon with 12 points on 4-of-10 shooting.

Chase Baysdell was the Hornets third-leading scorer, adding seven points and also corralling seven rebounds like Dickerson.

Kalamazoo shot 71.4 percent from the free throw line and ended with eight assists.

The Hornets begin the regular season exactly one week from today on Saturday, Nov. 14 when Oberlin College visits the Anderson Athletic Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
