KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Casey Johnson of the Kalamazoo College men's tennis team was recognized by the Athletic Leadership Council on Tuesday as the Hornet of the Week.
Johnson, a freshman from Kohler, Wis. (Kohler HS), was undefeated this week at No. 5 singles with 6-0, 6-0 wins against Hope and Albion. His wins contributed to Kalamazoo's winning of the MIAA championship.
Johnson improved his overall record this season to 13-6 and is now 6-0 in MIAA competition. Johnson and Allen Vinson are also 2-0 this season in MIAA doubles matches.
This marks the first time that Johnson has been named the Hornet of the Week.
Johnson and the Hornets will look to win the MIAA championship outright against Alma on Wednesday, April 24 before concluding the regular season at Wis.-Whitewater on Sunday, April 28.
