Men's Tennis Defeats Whitewater at NCAA Regional

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team defeated Wisconsin-Whitewater 5-1 in the second round of the NCAA III Championships Friday.

The Hornets won two of the three doubles matches before winning the first three singles matches to clinch the match.

Zack Ray and Allen Vinson won 8-5 at two doubles followed by an 8-5 win at three doubles by Tytus Metzler and Alex Cadigan. Kalamazoo fell 8-6 at one doubles.

Ian Yi rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win at one singles. Daniel Henry won 6-4, 6-2 at two before Cadigan won 6-1, 7-6(4) at six to clinch the win for the Hornets.

With Friday's win No. 27 Kalamazoo advances to Saturday's third round match against regional host No. 7 Washington University in St. Louis. The Bears defeated Rose-Hulman 6-0 earlier Friday.

Saturday's match is scheduled for a 12 p.m. Central start with the winner advancing to the quarterfinals May 20 in Kalamazoo.
