Men's Cross Country Sees Three Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

The Kalamazoo College men's cross country College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Track & Field/Cross Country Team, including Garrick Hohm, Keegan Reynolds, and Levi Thomas.

The Kalamazoo College men's cross country team had three individuals selected to the College Sports Communicators Track & Field/Cross Country Academic All-District Team, as announced on Wednesday (May 31). The student-athletes selected were Garrick Hohm, Keegan Reynolds, and Levi Thomas.

To be selected for the award, the student-athlete must be a starter or an important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, have played at least 50% of their team's competitions, and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.

Hohm finished anywhere from third to fifth among Hornet runners, scoring points for the team all season. His best time of 28:46 came at the MIAA Championships when he improved on his personal-best 8k by six seconds from last season. As a sophomore, Hohm is double majoring in computer science and biology with a cumulative GPA of 3.72.

Reynolds returned after missing the first couple of races due to injury and finished with a personal best of 30:13 at the NCAA DIII Great Lakes Regional. That improved on his best 8k time from last season by two minutes and seven seconds. Reynolds has a 3.85 cumulative GPA in his second season at Kalamazoo and is majoring in pre-physical therapy.

Thomas finished his 2022 season strong by finishing his last three races under 30 minutes for the first time in his career, with the fastest coming at the MIAA Championships in 29:44. That was a 17-second improvement from his best 8k time last season. The sophomore is double majoring in business and psychology with a cumulative GPA of 3.78.

Now that the three student-athletes have made the district team, they will move on to the CSC Academic All-American ballot, which will be announced in June.
