CLERMONT, FL- Kalamazoo College's softball team lost a tough game in the eighth inning today to Wellesley on Monday evening. The game was the first of two the team played today in Florida.

The Hornets had the first lead of the game off a single from Paige Maguire in the bottom of the second. Kalamazoo held the lead until the top of the fifth when the team surrendered four runs.

The Hornets didn't pack it in after falling behind 4-1 and tied the game after another RBI by Maguire in the fifth and RBIs by Isabella Kirck and Abby Anderson in the sixth. The game was all tied up after the seven regulation innings had been played.

In the top of the eighth Kalamazoo gave up five runs that were just too much to come back from. Taylor Clements pitched 7.2 innings for the Hornets with zero earned runs. She also struck out six in the loss.

The second game featured an offensive outburst from the Hornets as they defeated Oberlin 15-2. The game was called after six innings due to Kalamazoo's heavy lead.

Oberlin got on the board first by putting up two runs in the first inning, but it wouldn't get on the board again.

Katie George led the way for the Hornets with four RBIs, Querubin Dubois was right behind her with three. Isabella Kirck had two RBI's and five other Hornet batters had one each.

The Hornets were up 8-2 going into the sixth inning, then really blew the lid off the game and ended it with a seven run sixth.

Victoria Najacht threw a complete game and gave up two runs over six innings in the win. She's 1-0 this season. After splitting the games today Kalamazoo is now 3-5 overall.

The Hornets will play their final two games of this Florida road trip tomorrow against UW-Oshkosh and North Central (Ill.).
