Softball wins on walk-off

Angelia Evangelista playing softball.

CLERMONT, Fla. – The Kalamazoo College softball team picked up its first win of the season Saturday afternoon due to some late inning heroics against Washington and Jefferson.

Down 1-0 heading into the seventh and only recording three hits to that point, the Hornets combined for two runs on three hits including Angelia Evangelista's walk-off triple that gave Kalamazoo its 2-1 win.

One batter before Evangelista secured the win, Hayleigh Alamo doubled to centerfield driving in Rachel Epstein to tie the game.

Erin DuRoss pitched an outstanding one-hitter for the Hornets in the game allowing the team to stick around until the end. She threw 102 pitches in her seven innings of work.

The Hornets are schedule for a pair of games Monday beginning at 5 p.m. against Luther. The second game will be played against Lawrence.
