Softball wins two at Adrian

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College softball team swept a doubleheader at Adrian on Friday to move into fifth place in the MIAA.

Game One

It took extra innings, but Kalamazoo came out on top 7-2 in eight innings. Kalamazoo scored a single run in the third and fourth innings before Adrian tied it at 2-2 in the sixth. After a scoreless seventh Kalamazoo scored five runs before making an out in the top of the eighth. Adrian got the leadoff batter on in the bottom of the eighth before Erin DuRoss slammed the door with three consecutive strikeouts to end the game.

DuRoss earned her fourth win of the season with the complete game win, allowing just six hits while striking out six and walking one. The junior also went 3-for-5 at the plate with an RBI.

Nori Seita also had three hits with a pair of RBIs in the designated hitter spot. Andrea MacMichael had two hits, including a double, with two RBIs. Erika Pueblo also had a pair of hits in the game.

Game Two

Adrian scored a run in the first and held that lead until the third inning when the Hornets pushed three runs across. Kalamazoo added two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to take a 6-1 lead heading into the final inning. The host Bulldogs scored one run in the seventh before Kalamazoo secured the final out for the win and the sweep.

Nori Seita earned her second win of the season allowing six hits in seven innings with three strikeouts and no walks.

Dana Page and Megan Malish each had three hits in the game with Malish having a double and two RBIs.

Seita and Andrea MacMichael each had two hits while Paige Maguire hit a solo home run in the fifth.

Kalamazoo returns home Saturday to face Olivet College in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
