Softball Drops Two Close Games to Adrian

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College softball team dropped two games to Adrian on Tuesday, 5-4 and 4-1.

Game One

Kalamazoo and Adrian each scored a run in the first inning with the score remaining tied 1-1 until the fourth inning. After the Hornets scored twice in the top half of the inning, the Bulldogs came right back to take a 4-3 lead in the bottom half. Then, Adrian scored an insurance run in the sixth to extend its lead to two. Kalamazoo scored once in the seventh inning but left the tying run stranded on second to end the game. 

Adrian outhit Kalamazoo 10-7 in the game. The Hornets also committed one error compared to the Bulldogs' four and left seven runners on base.

Emma Newlove and Mackenzie Moore were 2-3 at the plate, with Newlove collecting the team's lone RBI. Lucy Hart had the only extra-base hit with a double and then also walked.

Sam Moss pitched all six innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on ten hits and three walks with two strikeouts. 

Game Two

Kalamazoo scored the game's first run in the third inning, but Adrian scored twice in the fourth and sixth innings to take the 4-1 win.

The Bulldogs outhit the Hornets 9-6, both teams committed one error, and Kalamazoo left eight runners on base. 

Lucy Hart had two hits and the lone RBI, with Mackenzie Moore scoring the run. Lizzy Rottenberk, Sam Moss, Brynna Garden, and Moore also collected a hit.

Jordan Cook threw five and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on nine hits and a walk with three strikeouts. Rottenberk got the other four outs on ten pitches.
