KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team fell 69-66 to Adrian College at home on Saturday, spoiling Senior Day for the Hornets.

The game also moved both teams into a tie for fourth place in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) with two games remaining. Each team plays Calvin again next week. Kalamazoo also faces Trine while Adrian finishes with Alma. The top four teams in the league earn a spot in the MIAA Tournament.

Kalamazoo led for most of the first half, including a nine point lead (31-22) just before halftime. The Hornets took a 33-28 lead into the break.

Kalamazoo led by as many as 12 points (42-30) just three minutes into the second half. The Hornets held a nine point lead (46-37) with 16:02 remaining, but a 9-0 run by the Bulldogs evened the score at 46-46.

Adrian took its first lead of the second half (49-48) at the 10:13 mark, but Kalamazoo regained the lead (55-50) with 8:30 remaining. The Bulldogs responded again with a 10-0 run to take a 60-55 lead, and extended their lead to eight (65-57) with 5:32 left.

Kalamazoo responded with a nine point run of its own to retake the lead (66-65) with 3:02 left. Adrian's four free throws were the only points put on the board over the final three minutes as the Bulldogs took the 69-66 win. Kalamazoo had a three-point attempt fall short at the buzzer.

Kalamazoo shot 37.9 percent overall while hitting just 1-of-10 3-pointers. The Hornets made 15-of-26 free throws. Adrian shot 33.9 percent overall with 9-of-28 3's and 18-of-29 free throws.

Adrian held a 50-41 advantage in rebounds, including 18-13 on the offensive end resulting in a 14-7 advantage in second chance points. Kalamazoo scored 13 points off 17 Adrian turnovers while the Bulldogs scored five points off a season-low 10 turnovers for the Hornets.

India Hoskins led Kalamazoo with 15 points, five rebounds, two assists and three steals.

Perri (Weiderman) Nicholson fouled out with 14 points and eight rebounds on 6-of-9 shooting. Nicole Antoine also scored 14 points with four rebounds.

Grace Smith and Morgan Overstreet each scored eight points off the bench, with Overstreet grabbing five rebounds and dishing out four assists.
