Hornets fall to Thunder

Claire Slaughter playing basketball.

The women's basketball team fell on the road 77-59 to Trine on Wednesday night. This was the Hornets' first MIAA game of the season and they are now 2-3 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

The two teams traded baskets for the first five minutes of the game. The Hornets fell behind 11-10 after five minutes and were never again able to regain the lead.

Neither team was particularly impressive from a shooting standpoint – the Hornets shot 32 percent and the Thunder shot 40 percent. The difference was in the rebounds, with Trine outrebounding Kalamazoo by 15.

Perri Nicholson had a nice night for Kalamazoo with nine points and six boards while hitting on 50 percent of her shot attempts. Kelsey Adamski facilitated the best she could with a team-high four assists and Hannah Maness sank her third three point shot of the year and added nine points. Claire Slaughter came through for the Hornet bench - scoring ten points in just thirteen minutes.

The women will try to break out of this two game losing streak Saturday, Dec. 6 at Olivet.
