Women's Lacrosse wins 19-8 at Trine

ANGOLA, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team won 19-8 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play at Trine University on Wednesday.

Trine scored the first goal of the game, but Kalamazoo led 6-2 after the first 19 minutes of play and took a 9-4 lead into halftime.

Trine struck first again to start the second half to make it 9-5, but Kalamazoo scored the next eight goals over a span of just six minutes to take a 17-5 lead with 17:34 remaining. The host Thunder scored the next two goals to make it 17-7, but the Hornets sealed the win by scoring two of the next three goals to take the 19-8 win.

Kalamazoo outshot Trine 41-25, including 34-21 on goal. The Hornets were 16-of-19 on clear attempts compared to 9-of-13 for Trine.

Anika Sproull led Kalamazoo with five goals on 12 shots. Alivia DuQuet scored four goals on five shots.

Anna Dariaghi scored three goals with five ground balls and five draw controls while Nicole Huff also scored three goals.

Holly Cooperrider caused six turnovers to lead the Hornets while Elizabeth Arellano caused four turnovers.

Ivy McKee made 11 saves in goal.

Kalamazoo (5-6, 2-1 MIAA) returns home to face Hope on Saturday, April 19 at 1 p.m. The game is part of the HEADstrong Rivalry Series. An admission fee of $5 will go to support cancer research.
