Hannah Heeren of the Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team was selected as the MIAA Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week on Monday (Mar. 4). This is the fourth time in Heeren's career that she has been chosen for the honor, including last week.

The Hornets continued their season with a single home game against UW-Eau Claire on Mar. 2. Kalamazoo won its second straight game 17-16 after just holding off the Blue Gold in a comeback attempt.

Heeren got it done on both ends of the field, finishing with nine draw controls, three caused turnovers, and two ground balls defensively. She also contributed five goals and three assists for eight points on the offensive end. Heeren is in the top five in the MIAA for caused turnovers (1st - 14), draw controls (2nd - 33), ground balls (3rd - 17), assists (3rd - 5), goals (4th - 12), and points (5th - 17) on the season. In 51 career games, Heeren has scored 178 goals and dished out 41 assists for 219 points while also collecting 246 draw controls, 173 ground balls, and 94 caused turnovers. She is second in program history for career goals, assists, points, and draw controls and ninth in games played.

The Hornets will continue their season with another home game against Aquinas on Wednesday (Mar. 6) and a road game at Franklin on Saturday (Mar. 9).
