KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team lost 4-0 to Calvin College at MacKenzie Field on Saturday.

The visiting Knights scored their first goal of the game just over seven minutes into the contest and took the 1-0 advantage into halftime.

Calvin added goals in the 48th, 56th, and 74th minutes to reach the 4-0 final.

"It was a tough loss to the Knights today," said Kalamazoo Head Coach Bryan Goyings. "There is certainly a reason why they are the defending champs and we saw that today."

The Knights outshot Kalamazoo 20-9, including 13-3 on goal.

Elizabeth Clevenger, Jenna Sexton, and Paige Sambor each had two shots for Kalamazoo.

Lucy Mailing made nine saves in goal for the Hornets.

"Lucy played very well today and was a major reason the score remained 1-0 at halftime," Goyings said. "Rachel Dandar had a tireless work rate in the midfield as well."

"I thought we competed as a team for the entire 90 minutes," Goyings added. "We look forward to getting back on the field tomorrow against Chicago."

Kalamazoo returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 29 with a 1 p.m. contest against the University of Chicago at MacKenzie Field.
