KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team lost its season finale 1-0 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play at MacKenzie Field on Monday.

The game-winning goal was scored just over 19 minutes into the contest when Alma's Kelly Wilson gathered the ball off a deflection and lofted a shot from 35 yards out over the head of Kalamazoo's goalkeeper and into the back of the net.

Kalamazoo increased the pressure offensively in the second half and outshot Alma 12-5 in the half, but many of the shots sailed high or wide. Kalamazoo outshot Alma 16-12 for the game, but the Scots held a 7-6 edge in shots on goal.

"I'm certainly disappointed with the final result," said Kalamazoo Head Coach Bryan Goyings. "We played a very solid second half, however, with 12 scoring opportunities. Our inability to convert plagued us all season and was evidenced again tonight."

Suzanne Miller fired three shots for Kalamazoo while Jordan Lewis, Sam Voss, and Katie Sorensen each took two shots.

Lucy Mailing made six saves in goal for the Hornets.

"I am very proud of our three seniors: Sam Voss, Jordan Lewis, and Jordan Meeth," said Goyings. "They have a great competitive spirit and never give up. Their efforts were apparent tonight and a big reason why we were competitive in the second half."
