ALBION, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team played Albion to a 1-1 tie on Tuesday.

Albion started strong offensively with six of the game's first nine shots, with the sixth crossing into goal.

The second half started slow offensively for both teams before Rachel Dandar tied the score with a goal in the 55th minute. Neither team would score in the final 35 minutes of regulation or in 20 minutes of overtime.

"We started a little slow and Albion took advantage of our start with the early goal," said Kalamazoo Head Coach Bryan Goyings. "We played much better in the second half and Rachel [Dandar] scored a fantastic goal to tie the game."

Kalamazoo outshot Albion 22-12 overall, however the Britons held a 9-7 advantage in shots on goal.

Lucy Mailing made eight saves in goal for the Hornets.

"We had numerous opportunities to score a second goal, but were unable to finish," Goyings said. "I am very happy with how we responded to the first goal but improving our efficiency in the final third will be very important to getting positive results in league play."

Kalamazoo returns to action with a conference game at Adrian College on Saturday, Sept. 20 at noon.
