Women's Soccer falls 2-1 at Hope

HOLLAND, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team lost 2-1 at Hope College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play on Saturday.

Hope scored its first goal in the 43rd minute and added a second goal five minutes into the second half (50th minute).

Kalamazoo got on the board in the 62nd minute with a goal by Madison Moote (assist by Suzanne Miller). Neither team scored over the final 28 minutes.

Hope outshot Kalamazoo 10-6 overall, including 6-5 on goal. Lucy Mailing made four saves in goal for the Hornets.

"It was a well played game between the top two teams in the league," said Kalamazoo Head Coach Bryan Goyings. "I was very proud of the team fighting back after going down 2-0."

"Maddie scored an excellent goal and we had several great opportunities late in the game to tie the score," Goyings added. "Allie Brodsky and Karen Timm both played well defensivelyl today as well."

Kalamazoo (13-4-1, 10-4-1 MIAA) closes out the regular season at Alma on Monday, Nov. 3 before hosting an MIAA Tournament semifinal on Thursday, Nov. 6.
