Volleyball defeated at No. 2 Hope

HOLLAND - The Kalamazoo College volleyball team lost 25-9, 25-13, 25-15 at No. 2 Hope College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play on Wednesdsay.

After falling in the first set, Kalamazoo trailed by just three points (11-8) in the second set before Hope used a 5-1 run to take a 16-9 lead on its way to winning the set.

Kalamazoo gave Hope a battle in the third set as well as they trailed by just two points (11-9), but a 4-0 run by Hope gave the Flying Dutch a 15-9 advantage that they would not relinquish in taking the third set to seal the win.

Kelsey Hill and Quinn McCormick led Kalamazoo with four kills each, with Hill leading the way with a .214 attack percentage. Nya Greenstone had three kills.

Kaela Van Til also had three kills with 11 digs.

Alex Gothard had 15 assists along with five digs.

Kalamazoo returns to action with a pair of non-conference matches at Wheaton College on Saturday, Sept. 28. The Hornets face the host Thunder in the morning followed by a match with Carthage College in the afternoon.
