KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced Monday afternoon that Doug Propson has been named Pitcher of the Week for his performance over the weekend in Kalamazoo's series with Hope.
The junior from Rochester, Mich. (Stoney Creek) saw action on the mound in both of Kalamazoo's wins against Hope, coupled with a strong offensive showing.
In Saturday's first game, Propson came in with one out in the seventh and recorded the final two strikeouts to earn his third save of the season as the Hornets defeated Hope 6-3. During Sunday's 8-4 victory, Propson came in midway through the third inning to earn his first win of the season. He faced 12 batters and had six strikeouts.
Propson earned a .333 batting average over the weekend, recording three hits, all doubles. He currently ranks second on the team with 12 hits and leads the Hornets with five doubles for a .353 overall average.
Kalamazoo is scheduled to begin a five-game series with Calvin next week, with game one taking place at home on March 30.
