Harrison Poeszat of the Kalamazoo College baseball team was named the SAAC Men's Hornet of the Week on Wednesday (Mar. 29).

Kalamazoo played six games to wrap up their spring break trip this past week against Wisconsin-La Crosse (Mar. 21), Williams (Mar. 22), Wisconsin-Eau Claire (Mar. 22), Union (Mar. 23), Keuka (Mar. 24), and St. Olaf (Mar. 25). After starting the week with an 11-2 loss to the Eagles, the Hornets rattled off five straight wins over the Ephs (10-9), Blue Gold (12-7), Dutchmen (6-1), Wolves (14-8), and Oles (13-7).

Poeszat was one of the top run producers during the five-game winning streak for the Hornets. He hit .450 (9-20) with a .538 on-base percentage and a .800 slugging percentage. Three of his nine hits were for extra bases, including a double and two home runs. Along with the nine base hits, Poeszat was also walked twice and hit by a pitch three times. He came around to score nine times and drove in another nine runs himself. Behind the plate, Poeszat caught three runners trying to steal a bag, had 48 putouts, five assists, and a .981 fielding percentage.

In 17 games this season, Poeszat is hitting .352 with five doubles, two home runs, 17 RBI, and 15 runs scored. As a senior at Kalamazoo, Poeszat has appeared in 103 games and has 112 hits in 364 at-bats. His slash line of a .308 batting average, a .378 on-base percentage, and a .462 slugging percentage has resulted in 30 doubles, a triple, eight home runs, and 92 RBI. He has also collected 25 walks, six stolen bases, and 63 runs scored. Behind the plate, Poeszat has a .977 fielding percentage and has caught 23 attempted stolen bases.
