Harrison Poeszat Selected SAAC Men's Hornet of the Week

Harrison Poeszat of the Kalamazoo College baseball team was named the SAAC Men's Hornet of the Week on Wednesday (Apr. 17).

Kalamazoo continued MIAA play with two mid-week games against Hope on Apr. 8 and 10 before playing a three-game series against Adrian on Apr. 13-14. The Hornets split the two games with the Flying Dutchmen with a 15-3 win and 8-5 defeat, and then won two out of three games against the Bulldogs with 10-4 and 9-7 wins following a 12-2 loss.

Poeszat led the team with a .450 average, .542 on-base percentage, and .850 slugging percentage, with nine hits, two doubles, two home runs, 10 RBI, and eight runs scored. He had a hit in four of the five games, three being multi-hit games. His best game was on Apr. 8 against Hope, when he went 4-5 with a double, two home runs, three runs scored, and seven RBI. Poeszat also added two walks and was hit by a pitch twice. In the MIAA, Poeszat ranks first in RBI (44), first in doubles (12), third in extra-base hits (18), fourth in home runs (5), fourth in slugging (.626), fourth in total bases (67), eighth in hits (38), 10th in runs scored (27), and 10th in hit-by-pitches (8) this season.

In 155 career games, Poeszat has a .336 batting average, a .421 on-base percentage, and a .526 slugging percentage. He has collected 189 hits, 54 doubles, four triples, 15 home runs, 163 RBI, 128 runs scored, 47 walks, and has been hit by a pitch 44 times in 563 at-bats. On the career statistics leaderboard, Poeszat currently ranks first in RBI, first in hit-by-pitches, first in doubles, second in hits, third in runs, third in home runs, third in at-bats, and fifth in games played.

The Hornets will continue conference play with a home mid-week game against Hope on Tuesday (Apr. 16) before playing Trine in a three-game series with a road game on Saturday (Apr. 20) and a home doubleheader on Sunday (Apr. 21).
