CHICAGO, Ill. – The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team began its eight-game road trip Saturday afternoon as it travelled to the University of Chicago, but the Hornets were unable to get off on the right foot as they fell just short to the hosting Maroons, 75-63.

The first half of play was marked by strong shooting from both teams as each team reached 20 points less than 10 minutes into the game.

With Kalamazoo leading 21-20 with 11:41 remaining in the first half, Chicago went on a 13-2 run over the next four minutes giving them a 10 point lead. Despite a quick 5-0 run of their own after the run from the Maroons, Kalamazoo found itself in a 43-32 hole at the half.

After going down 15 early in the second half, Kalamazoo continued to battle, cutting the Chicago lead to just eight with seven minutes remaining, but the Maroons proved to be too much down the stretch as they increased their lead to 17 with 3:38 remaining, ultimately winning by 12.

Chase Baysdell led the way for Kalamazoo scoring a game-high 18 points and recording 10 rebounds. Adam Dykema also scored in double figures for the Hornets, recording 15 points while going 3-for-6 on three point attempts.

Kalamazoo will look to gain its first win of the season on Wednesday, Dec. 9 when the team travels to the east side of Michigan and takes on Lawrence Tech. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
