Josh Decker Collects All-MIAA Second Team Honors

Josh Decker's All-MIAA graphic.

Josh Decker of the Kalamazoo College men's basketball team has been selected to the All-MIAA Men's Basketball Second Team on Friday (Feb. 24).

Kalamazoo finished the 2022-23 season with a 5-20 (3-11 MIAA) record. The Hornets won their first game of the season over Manchester, had a 49-point win over Finlandia, a double-overtime thriller at Adrian, and then two more road games over Albion and Olivet.

Coming to Kalamazoo from Cuyahoga, Ohio, Decker was Kalamazoo's primary offensive weapon during the season. Appearing in 23 games, including 19 starts, Decker averaged 14.8 points per game and shot 44.2% from the field, 42.4% from the three-point line, and 82.8% from the free throw line. In 25.1 minutes per game, he also collected 2.8 rebounds, 0.8 assists, and 0.8 steals per game. He led the team in points, three-pointers, and free throws while being third in the team in blocks. As the team's top three-point shooter, Decker set a new Kalamazoo single-season record with 75 made three-pointers and tied for the most three made in a game with seven at Olivet. In addition, Decker made a game-winning three with less than a second left in two wins this season. The first was the double-overtime win at Adrian and the next came at Olivet. He also established new single-game career highs with 28 points at Olivet and four assists at Alma. Decker scored at least 10 points in 18 games this season, six being 20 or more.

This is the first time Decker has been selected to an All-MIAA team in his career.
