KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team hosted Olivet College Tuesday evening at MacKenzie Field in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association action.

With Kalamazoo looking for its first MIAA win in program histoy, Olivet came out on top, 18-5.

The Hornets looked as if they would hold their own early on despite going down 2-0. By the end of the first quarter, goals from Alex Dykema and Hans Wieland leveled the score at 2-2. Wieland's goal was assisted by Brett Fitzgerald.

After Olivet scored four straight goals in the second quarter, Dykema ended the half with another, cutting the Olivet lead to 6-3.

The Comets' depth proved to be too much for the Hornets in the second half, though, as they consistently built their lead in the final 30 minutes.

Wieland and Zach Morales added goals for the Hornets in the second half.

Michael Dutcher made 16 saves in goal for the Hornets and K picked up 35 ground balls in the contest.

The Hornets will continue MIAA action this Friday when they take on Alma at MacKenzie Field.
