GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team earned the program's first ever MIAA victory with a 13-7 win at Calvin on Tuesday evening.
After Calvin scored first the Hornets struck back with three straight goals, two scored by Harrison Ramsey, to take a 3-1 lead. At the half, the teams were tied 4-4, but a pair of goals from Brett Fitzgerald helped K head into the final quarter with an 8-6 lead.
K opened the fourth with four straight goals to seize control of the game and secure the team's first conference win in program history.
The Hornets outshot Calvin 31-25 in the victory.
Brandon Wright was the team's high scorer with four goals while also picking up five ground balls. Brett Fitzgerald and Zach Norgrove each recorded hat tricks for K.
Jack Smith set a new school single-game record with five assists to power the K offense.
Kalamazoo will travel to Olivet for a 3 p.m. contest on Saturday, April 14th.
