KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team fell 12-9 to Calvin in a non-conference game Wednesday evening.
Calvin got out to an early 3-0 lead just over five minutes into the contest. The Hornets brought the deficit down to just one goal in the first few minutes of the second quarter before the teams traded goals and played to a 5-3 Calvin lead at the break.
After making it a 5-4 game, the Hornets surrendered four goals while just scoring once more in the third. Kalamazoo outscored Calvin 4-3 in the final quarter, but were unable to complete a comeback.
The teams played a fairly even game with a slight edge of 45-43 in Calvin's favor in shots and 42-40 in ground balls.
Jack Smith and Dylan McGorisk each collected three goals for the Hornets. McGorisk also dished out two assists in the game.
Jack Loveland added two goals and one assist while Jake Bonifacio scored once.
The Hornets will travel to Alma to open MIAA play on Saturday, April 6 at 1 p.m.
