Men's Lacrosse Improves to 2-0 with Win Over Concordia

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team improved to 2-0 on its young season with a 16-14 win on the road at Concordia University (Mich.). 

In a back-and-forth first half, Jack Loveland got the Hornets on the board first as he scored just 45 seconds into the game. Taking a 2-2 tie into the second quarter, the teams traded goals again as they played to a 6-6 tie at the halftime break. 

The Hornets found themselves trailing for the first time in the contest late in the third quarter and into the final period. Brandon Wright's goal with 10:55 remaining put Kalamazoo on top for good as the Hornets would go on to win by two. 

Kalamazoo outshot Concordia 49-36 on the game and held a 17-6 advantage in the final quarter. 

The Hornets won 21 of 33 faceoffs throughout the contest. They also had a slight 31-28 edge in ground balls. 

Jack Smith led Kalamazoo with five goals on nine shots and added two assists. 

Loveland and Wright each added three goals.

Jake Nugent and Harrison Ramsey led the team with eight ground balls. Both players scored a goal as well. 

Nate Silverman earned his second win of the season in goal while making 10 saves. 

Kalamazoo returns to play on Saturday, Feb. 29 for its home opener against Taylor (Ind.). The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
