Men's Lacrosse Improves to 4-0 with Win Over Northland

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team improved its record to 4-0 on Wednesday evening as the Hornets defeated Northland College 16-2.

Kalamazoo came out of the gates strong in tonight's contest as it tallied nine goals in just the first quarter. The team added five more in the second quarter to take a 14-0 lead into halftime. 

Slowing the pace in the second half, the Hornets managed two goals in the third quarter. Northland got on the board in the final 15 minutes as it tallied two goals in the fourth. 

Kalamazoo, led by Wil Thomas' 15 faceoff wins, was victorious in 16 of the 21 faceoffs throughout the game. The Hornets collected 78 groundballs to Northland's 32.

Kalamazoo was also successful on 16 of its 17 clear attempts. 

Dylan McGorisk and Jack Smith led the Hornets in the scoring column as the duo scored four each. Smith added three assists while McGorisk had two. 

Brandon Wright tallied three goals and picked up a pair of assists while Doug Shipp scored two goals of his own. 

Freshman Sam Hoag collected the first point of his collegiate career on an assist to Smith. 

The Hornets return to play on Monday, March 9 when they welcome Benedictine University to MacKenzie Field. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
