Men's Lacrosse Falls to Benedictine

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team tallied its first loss of the season Monday evening as the visiting Benedictine Eagles won 15-9. 

After trailing 5-2 at the conclusion of the first quarter, Kalamazoo bounced back in the second by outscoring Benedictine 4-2 to decrease the deficit to just one at halftime.

The teams traded a pair of goals each in the third quarter to take a 9-8 Benedictine advantage to the final 15 minutes. The Eagles' offense picked up in the final period as they scored six goals and held the Hornets to just one. 

Kalamazoo held a 26-21 advantage in shots on goal during the game while taking 57 shots to Benedictine's 30. The Hornets also held a 45-35 advantage in groundballs won. 

The Hornets were just one for 11 in man-up situations throughout the contest. 

Dylan McGorisk led Kalamazoo with three goals on five shots on target. 

Harrison Ramsey tallied a pair of goals while Jack Jesko, Jake Nugent, Jack Smith, and Brandon Wright each scored once. Wright also added two assists. 

Jack Loveland assisted on three Hornet goals.

Kalamazoo returns to play on Saturday, March 21 when it welcomes JWU to town at 12 p.m.
